Newsletter of South Shore Christian Academy

Headmaster's Corner

Dr. Chamberlain

As we come to the end of this school year we are grateful to the Lord for the many blessings that South Shore Christian Academy has received. One of those blessings has been having your family as a part of the SSCA family. I trust that this has been a great year academically, socially and spiritually, and that you feel as excited as we do about what's ahead next year.

I am happy to tell you that this has been a very good year for the school. As I reflect back, these are a few of the blessings that stand out:

We are growing. Our enrollment is up from 232 in 2007 to 248 this year. Our high school grew this year as well. We are projecting more growth with more than 250 students enrolling next year.

Our seniors have been accepted at some great colleges including Wheaton, Gordon, Taylor, Smith, Vanderbilt, Emerson and Boston University to name a few.

Generous friends have given the school a total of nearly $700,000 in gifts, $441,000 to support the operational budget of the school, and nearly $280,000 more enabling us to do "over and above" projects such as:

· installing a brand new, state of the art computer lab for next year

· marketing the school more aggressively

· making various improvements to the school building including

upgrading the heating system

· providing scholarships

· hiring additional staff

We are delighted that we have purchased the property at 174 Front Street, thus enlarging our campus slightly, but also protecting our options for future campus expansion.

We rejoice that SSCA high school students raised $55,000 to be able to go on a wonderful and for some, a truly life transforming mission trip to Belize.

Our athletic teams did very well with boys' soccer and girls' soccer, basketball and softball earning berths in the MIAA post season tournament.

SSCA students won awards at several prestigious art competitions including the Boston Globe Scholastic Art Awards.

South Shore Christian Academy is truly an inspiring community. Having committed ourselves, our school, and our work to the Lord, we now look forward to the summer as an opportunity to make plans to ensure that 2008-'09 will be an even greater year for our students and our school.

My best wishes to you and to your family for an uplifting, fun and relaxing summer. We will see you when school begins anew in August.

Blessings,

Dr. Ted Chamberlain
